Haqol
The Haqol cannot hide. Their skin is a bright, metallic gold that marks them on sight to anyone who knows what it means, and across the continent, most people know. They have been hunted nearly to extinction for their blood, and they have responded by disappearing.
Appearance
Section titled “Appearance”Golden metallic skin. The shade is not subtle: it is luminous, warm, and immediately distinctive. Pointed ears. The Haqol cannot pass for another lineage in any context where skin is visible. This is not a minor inconvenience. For most of their recent history, it has been the central fact of their existence.
The Law of Harmony
Section titled “The Law of Harmony”The Haqol lineage polarity is Harmony: amplification and overcharging of other polarities.
A Haqol’s Ren does not merely interact with the world. It resonates with and amplifies whatever polarity it encounters. In practice, a Haqol Rennim can push another Rennim’s polarity beyond its normal limits, enabling effects that would otherwise be impossible for that individual. Their own Harmony polarity allows them to treat all frequencies of Ren as compatible, working with any polarity as if it were their own.
This makes Haqol blood extraordinarily valuable to Highborn families. Introducing Haqol heritage into a noble line amplifies the Coalescence polarity those families depend on. The Highborn have pursued this through every means available, including kidnapping and forced breeding programs. The Haqol have been hunted to near extinction as a result.
The envoys of the Carishid House spoke carefully around her, all polished restraint and inherited certainty. They praised her lineage, her value. They spoke of Harmony as if it were a blessing, something glorious to be poured into their house.
Haqol never agree without assurance.

Culture & Society
Section titled “Culture & Society”Haqol culture values fact and proof above sentiment. They do not extend trust easily, and they have developed a tradition of requiring collateral, tangible assurance of intent, even in minor dealings. This is not hostility. It is a people who learned long ago that goodwill is not a reliable foundation.
They are the most reclusive of all the Thuim. Most Haqol communities have no interest in visibility, recognition, or political participation beyond what is necessary to survive. They have seen what visibility costs.
The one people they trust are the Anamor. The relationship is genuine and longstanding: Anamor communities in the deep interior of Gankora shelter Haqol populations, and the Haqol function as partners within those communities. There is one known Haqol settlement in eastern Gankora, known to the Haqol themselves and to the Anamor in that region. It is not public knowledge.
Current Situation
Section titled “Current Situation”Most Haqol alive today live in hiding. Outside of Gankora’s deep interior, a Haqol walking openly in any city is in danger. Their golden skin marks them to any Highborn agent looking to acquire leverage, heritage, or captives. The social architecture of the continent, which rewards Daruner blood and everything that amplifies it, treats the Haqol as a resource rather than a people.
The Haqol have survived this by refusing to be found.
