Favor
Favor tracks a character’s standing, relationships, and political capital with the people and organizations of Ithasen. It is a social resource, not a currency.
The Three Types
Section titled “The Three Types”| Type | What It Represents |
|---|---|
| Local Faction | Standing with a local branch of a larger faction, or the faction of a specific town or community. |
| Personal | Standing with a specific individual. |
| Organizational | Standing with a continent-spanning institution (the Yrialin, a major guild, a government). |
How Favor Works
Section titled “How Favor Works”Favor does not regenerate on its own. It is earned through deeds that matter to the relevant party, and spent to access leverage, resources, or social pressure that party can provide.
Favor is specific, not universal. Faction Favor with the Eventide Brigade does nothing in a Lithywae Imperial court. Favor must make narrative sense to be applicable.
Spending Favor
Section titled “Spending Favor”When it is narratively appropriate, Favor can be spent in social exchanges and confrontations for the following effects:
- Add successes directly to a social roll.
- Reduce the ST of a social exchange.
- Provide goods, access, or leverage needed for a negotiation.
The GM determines whether a given use of Favor is narratively justified.
Starting Favor
Section titled “Starting Favor”At character creation, you receive 2 + Realm points to assign across your starting relationships. You can take a -1 on one relationship to gain +1 to spend elsewhere.
Gaining Favor
Section titled “Gaining Favor”Favor can be gained through:
- Major quests or deeds
- Fulfilling NPC goals
- Sacrificing personal gain for others
- Tying yourself to their reputation or risk
Each point spent implies:
- A remembered deed
- A political obligation
- A shared history
- An expectation of return
Favor doesn’t regenerate. You get more by doing things that matter to others.
