The Celestial Sword Sect
A martial religious order devoted to the eradication of Ingridrid’s polarity from the world. The Sect operates under the faith of Ylelaim and exists to do what the church cannot: meet confirmed corruption in the body and end it. Members are sword practitioners who blend martial discipline with holy Ren expression. The only thing they hunt is corruption-aligned Ren.
They do not debate jurisdiction. Ingridrid’s polarity is their jurisdiction.
When a Celestial Sword arrives, debate is already over.

The Celestial Sword holds a compound and territory within Lithywae’s borders, which they administer independently of the Imperial Dynasty. The dynasty tolerates this arrangement. Tolerates is the correct word: refusing to would imply a comfort with Ingridrid’s presence that no sitting emperor wants on record, and the Sect does work the empire cannot effectively do itself.
Outside Lithywae, they operate without territory or fixed presence. Teams move to where corruption has been confirmed and withdraw when the work is done.
Doctrine
Section titled “Doctrine”The Celestial Sword’s doctrine holds that Ingridrid is not merely an enemy. Ingridrid is a corruption of Ren itself: a polarity that taints what it touches, spreads through expression, and accumulates toward outcomes that cannot be recovered from without intervention. The faith does not allow neutrality on this point.
The sword is a sacred instrument in their tradition, not a metaphor. Drawing a blade against confirmed corruption is an act of worship. This is not poetry dressed as theology. It is the actual doctrine: the physical act of confronting and severing Ingridrid’s influence is the service their faith demands. Sword mastery and Ren expression are not separate disciplines within the Sect. They are the same discipline.
Faith polarity is the doctrinal cornerstone of this. Only someone with Faith polarity can reliably confirm Ingridrid’s trace in the Ren of another person. Acting without that confirmation risks the wrong target, which the Sect treats as a grave failure with theological consequences, not only a tactical error. This is why entry requires Faith polarity rather than sword skill alone. Skill can be trained. Faith polarity cannot.
Their coordination with the Yrialin is not incidental. The Yrialin’s open congregation hears things a closed order cannot, and after a Celestial Sword operation, Yrialin clergy perform the spiritual work of clearing and consecrating what was corrupted. The Sect strikes. The church heals. Neither can complete the other’s function.

Agents are not members. They are non-Sect operatives who work with the Sect under a specific arrangement: trusted enough for coordination and access to sensitive information, but without Faith polarity or formal induction. Agents operate on the Sect’s behalf in areas where full members are not present, and are given resources proportional to their arrangement. They are not on a path to full membership unless they develop Faith polarity. Some never do.
Headquarters
Section titled “Headquarters”The Sect’s compound sits in the mountains north of Athyllwyn, in terrain that makes casual approach impractical. The surrounding area falls under their jurisdiction in practice: disputes are settled by their law, and anyone within it who carries Ingridrid’s polarity will not remain unaddressed.
The compound is training facility, administrative center, and spiritual site in one. Disciples train here. Masters return between operations. The High Sword governs from here. It is the only place the Sect concentrates its full institutional weight.
Their presence in Athyllwyn is rare and politically charged. When a Celestial Sword appears in the capital, it is because something has drawn them there with purpose. People notice.
The Celestial Sword does not recruit broadly. The entry requirement, Faith polarity confirmed rather than claimed, filters out most candidates before formal evaluation begins. Faith polarity is cross-lineage but uncommon, and a Rennim who carries it will often not know that is what they have.
The Sect identifies candidates through the Yrialin’s congregation network, through Master judgment during chance encounters, and through the natural surface of someone with Faith polarity behaving in ways that make it visible. The Sect does not advertise. It finds people.
Formal entry begins with confirmation of Faith polarity by a Master. If confirmed, the candidate begins Disciple training. Sword skill at entry is secondary: those who arrive with prior training advance faster, those without are trained from the ground up. What cannot be worked around is the polarity requirement.
Trigger: Ingridrid’s polarity exists in the world. It does not stop at national borders, does not respect jurisdictions, and has no natural ceiling on how far it spreads if left uncontested. The Sect’s existence is the standing response to this fact.
Task: Maintain the compound, train the membership, and monitor for Ingridrid-polarity activity through coordination with the Yrialin and intelligence from many groups across Ithasen. Deploy hunting teams when corruption is confirmed. Administer their Lithywae territory. Provide martial support to the Yrialin and Yliasen when divine matters escalate beyond what the church can address.
Purpose: Serve Ylelaim by ensuring Ingridrid’s polarity cannot establish unchallenged footholds in the world. The theological purpose is the permanent suppression of corruption in service of a faith that holds it to be the defining spiritual threat of the age. The operational purpose is ensuring every confirmed outbreak is addressed before it spreads.
Method: Faith polarity is the authoritative tool. No operation proceeds to lethal action without confirmed detection by a member with Faith polarity. Hunting teams are small, mobile, and move on confirmed intelligence rather than rumor. Coordination with the Yrialin precedes deployment when possible: their congregation generates more intelligence on local corruption than the Sect’s own network can. After successful operations, the Yrialin leads spiritual clearance. Agents extend operational reach into territories where Blades are not present.
Endstate: There is no terminal endstate. A world free of Ingridrid is the theological aspiration that sustains the mission, not an achievable operational condition - something they’re fully aware of. The Sect measures success as: no confirmed Ingridrid-polarity outbreak goes unaddressed. It does not declare victory. It maintains vigilance.
Relations
Section titled “Relations”Yrialin: The Sect shares the Yrialin’s faith and depends on its congregation network for intelligence. The Yrialin’s primary work is civil: conversion, spiritual guidance, and the support of the faithful. What their congregation hears about corruption in the world flows to the Sect, and after operations the Yrialin performs the spiritual work of clearance and consecration. The division is practical and the doctrinal alignment is genuine, not political.
Yliasen: The Sect coordinates with the Yliasen when divine matters escalate beyond ordinary corruption response.
Lithywae Imperial Dynasty: Functional tolerance on both sides. The empire does not want the cost of opposing the Sect, and the Sect does not want to expend resources governing more territory than they already hold. The arrangement persists because both parties are clear-eyed about why it does.
