The Amber Faith
The Amber Faith is a nomadic tradition whose followers wander the borderlands between Shejara and Dosharen. They do not build temples or hold fixed territory. They move, following something they call the celestial fire: a presence they believe appears at the edge of perception, illuminating the way forward and burning away what should not persist.
Most settled traditions dismiss the Amber Faith as wandering superstition. The faithful would say that is exactly what a tradition that has stopped seeking would say.
What They Follow
Section titled “What They Follow”The faith is oriented around Lithuin, though most members do not use that name. Their traditions describe a presence of absolute purity that passed through the world and left something behind: warmth at the threshold of perception, fire that does not consume but clarifies.
Lithuin is the spirit of Purity, a Yndryr who dissolved so completely into that concept that the distinction between the two collapsed. Lithuin is distant from mortal affairs, and the Amber Faith reflects that distance. This is not a faith that receives revelation. It is a faith that follows traces of something that has already moved on, hoping proximity to what it left behind is sufficient.
The wandering is not symbolic. The faithful believe that Lithuin’s presence continues to move, that the signs they follow are current rather than historical, and that stopping means losing the thread.
Practice
Section titled “Practice”The Amber Faith has no fixed scripture and no priestly hierarchy. Authority within a traveling group belongs to whoever reads the signs most accurately, and that legitimacy is constantly being tested by whether the group finds what they’re looking for.
Rituals center on fire as a medium: flame for reading, for purification, for marking passage through a place. The celestial fire is distinguished from ordinary fire not in appearance but in what it is understood to reveal. Ordinary fire illuminates what is physically present. The celestial fire, in their account, illuminates what is actually true.
Outsiders sometimes confuse the Amber Faith with the Order of the Divines. The two have nothing to do with each other. The Order worships named spirits in organized sects. The Amber Faith follows a single presence that neither names itself nor stays.
